Foster KS Kids Social Worker

JOB SUMMARY
This position will be an expert in customer service, as this position will be responsible for responding to all inquiries from people interested in becoming licensed foster parents in Kansas. Knowledge and understanding of the preparation process for foster parents, as well as licensing requirements of the physical environment will be required. A clear understanding of the children in Kansas who need foster home services; in order to help prospective parents determine if they have the emotional capacity to meet the needs of these children. Connecting the prospective family with a child placing agency in Kansas that will be the best match for their family and the child/ren they wish to serve.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

CUSTOMER SERVICE 60%

  • Provide appropriate supports to ensure that prospective foster family needs and expectations are addressed timely and appropriately;

  • Answers calls from the Foster KS Kids toll free information line to assist potential foster families by providing information on the licensing process, answering questions, and referring families to agencies in their area through provision of the Foster KS Kids Family Packet.

  • Responds to email inquiries posted through the Adoption Exchange website and other adoption websites

  • Maintains a base knowledge about children in States custody needing foster homes and resources available to foster families.

  • Routes non-foster family inquiries, media inquiries, complaints, and other inquiries unrelated to fostering to appropriate KCSL staff, or outside agency staff (i.e. DCF, case management contractors, etc.)

  • Continually be a part of the effort to recruit new foster families; including presentations in the public.

  • Maintain a database of general recruitment activities. Provide reports to DCF, and Foster KS Kids staff on a monthly basis.

  • Maintain all data from inquiries, including but not limited to, demographic information, how they heard about fostering, and where they are in the preparation process as well as any barriers.

  • Assist with the development of new and existing processes for tracking of prospective foster parents

  • Receive and enter family information to ensure integrity and current status of families remains accurate.


SUPPORT TO PROSPECTIVE FOSTER FAMILIES 20%

  • Facilitate a personalized orientation to potential Resource Families, discussing the need for quality Resource Families.

  • Provide materials to prospective foster parents for them to begin the preparation process in KS

  • Assist potential resource families to register and participate in MAPP training.


COMMUNITY COLLABORATION 15%

  • Work in cooperation with DCF and other CPAs providing community recruitment activities to elevate the awareness of children needing foster homes.

  • Attend regular meetings with DCF and other child welfare partners related to Diligent Recruitment

  • Participate in work groups, community committees, and task forces to represent the programs interests and support community needs


NONESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

OTHER DUTIES 5%

  • Complete initial and annual training plans, as required by agency policy

  • Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

Work Environment Office in Wichita, KS
Lifting Requirement 25 Pounds
Travel Driving related to Childrens case plans and required meetings

  • Licensed through the State of Kansas
