Post adoption Support Worker

Job Location: Wichita, KS
Job Type: Full-Time

The Post Adoption Support Worker is responsible for coordinating the support and services for post adoptive families in Kansas through the Kansas Post Adoption Resource Center Grant. This position is responsible for coordinating, facilitating, and implementing the adoptive families retreats, workshops, peer support training, conducting recruitment and registration for the retreats and workshops and conduct planning of events for the retreats. This position provides referral information and seek to develop informative resources for families seeking support. This position maintains accurate records for evaluation and reporting. This position maintains and improves contact with families through social media and the K-PARC web-site. The Worker will work with regional parent leadership and assist the Family Services Supervisor in supporting the Kansas Adoption Advisory Council.

Post Adoption Support Retreats 30%The Post Adoption Support Worker will be responsible for coordinating, implementing and facilitating the Adoptive Parent Retreats in selected communities in Kansas. This position will be responsible for setting up contract agreements with hotels in the selected communities where the retreats will be hosted, along with recruiting and registering couples for the retreats. Job duties will include providing handouts, materials and other resources to the families attending the retreats. This position will work to facilitate and train the material chosen, to develop and train adoptive parents to assist in Retreat facilitation, and to encourage adoption competent professionals to participate in the Retreat when desirable. This position will be responsible for collecting attendance and evaluation information at Retreats.
Parent Circle/Kids Club, and Post Adoption Support Workshops 40%The Post Adoption Support Worker will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and facilitating Parent Circle/Kids Club training programs and workshops in selected communities. Volunteer recruitment and training for Kids Club caregivers is the responsibility of the Worker. Educational or social support events including workshops, day camps, parents day out, and adoption events will be planned and supported by this position. The Worker will use technology to advance training and support outcomes when possible. This position will be responsible for gathering attendance and evaluation information, entering the data, and maintaining records for each event.
Post Adoption Peer Support Training and Coaching 25%The Post adoption Support Worker will provide peer support training and coaching to adoptive parents who are interested in volunteering for K-PARC or in offering peer support to other adoptive parents. This position will be responsible for setting up the location, the training and volunteer materials and marketing the training opportunity. Evaluations and reports on the training and the coaching will be conducted and compile with the information being available to the funders. This position will provide on-going coaching to K-PARC volunteers be available to support volunteers with information, referrals, and on-going skill development. This Worker will utilize social media and the K-PARC website for recruitment, informational support, and adoption/kinship community engagement.

Work Environment Office

Travel Requirements 6 to 8 times per month

Lifting Requirement 25 Pounds

Working Hours Mon-Fri 8am to 5pm with some evenings and weekends

High School Diploma or equivalent
Experience providing help to children and families.
Professional and/or personal experience with adoption or foster care.
Bachelors Degree in Social Work, Human Services, or related degree
Masters Degree in Social Work, Human Services, or related degree.
