On Call POSITION PURPOSE
Performs all stages of specimen testing required for reporting accurate result values.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES
-Collects, prepares and analyzes patient specimens while following universal precaution guidelines, safety policies, government regulations and established laboratory standards.
-Performs, records, evaluates and submits lab quality control and quality assurance data.
-Performs preventive maintenance activities and/or trouble shoots lab instruments.
-Assists in the training and instruction of new employees and medical technology students.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
Bachelor's degree and successful completion of an accredited Medical Technology Program.
Must have certification from HEW, ASCP or equivalent or qualified prior to March 1990.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE: Previous personal computer experience required
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Previous experience may be required for positions working in a solitary role.
SKILLS/ABILITY
Requires knowledge of laboratory procedures with ability to evaluate accurate test results and to make sound decisions regarding lab processes.
Also requires flexibility in rotating through different areas of the lab.
